Classroom Theme {Pirates}

So sorry about posting about pirates again my friends, but I'm in pirate mode and I've been finding SO MANY fabulous ideas out there I just HAD to share!
Click the picture to be directed to the blog I snagged the photo from!
Pirate Numbers! Yay!

I couldn't stop myself from buying this!
Love this idea for classroom jobs! Which reminds me....do ya'll have any ideas for pirate like names for classroom jobs??
This is where I found my inspiration for my hallway display. Thanks Mrs. Jump!!
She also offers this as a FREE yes...I said FREE download! YYAAAHHOO!
Oh my word....TOO CUTE-- in our county- we cannot do ANYTHING with our doors.
:( Blah.

Too precious!

Cute desktop tags
I really like this idea. I am going to use it, but change it just a little. I'm going to use the little metal buckets and put a treasure chest on the front of the buckets and label one Lunch from Home and the other School Lunch. I will have coins with their names on it inside a small pocket chart that they can place inside the buckets each morning.

Sail ho! Have a jolly Thursday Matey!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

"Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, will there be enough room?"  I'm sure that's what some of you are saying as you try to find a spot for everything in your classrooms!  I know I thought that every year! :)

One of my favorite books that I read to my to my kindergarten kiddos and now to my own little Munchkin is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by  Bill Martin Jr.  I'm planning on using this book as a theme with Noah when we start our "Flight School" in a couple of weeks.  I have searched the blogosphere for ideas & found some very creative projects to do and snacks to make (all with FREE downloads)

File Folder Game from Oopsey Daisy
Coconut Tree Snack from The Page's of Our Story

Lapbook from 1+1+1=1

tree craft from The Crafting Chicks

magnet board activity from Playing House

Here's a video to show your kiddos.

So, if you need some fun activities to do in your classroom as centers or at their seats, I made a new Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Mini Unit.  It's for sale in our Teacher's Notebook Shop.  It is 22 pages of language arts, math, and fine motor activities including...

-Name Handwriting Practice
-Beginning Letter Sounds
-Uppercase / Lowercase Letter Match
-Patterns
-Find the Difference
-Handwriting
-Fine Motor (Do-a-Dot or Circle Magnet Pages)
-Counting

Teaching Trends Tuesday

I cannot believe it is August already!  We head back to school on August 15th, so summer is quickly coming to an end.  My classroom is finally ready for my new kinders, so I thought I would share pictures of the beehive!

Door to my classroom

Whole group area, smartboard, theme board, and calendar board

Homeliving Center (and my new curtains)

Front of the classroom from the door.  Small group area

Reading Hive

Science Center

Word Wall

Student Computer and my desk

I loved this idea from First Grade at Last so I added them to my room this year and LOVE them!

Behavior Chart- my take on the popular clip system

My favorite addition to my classroom this year!  My new chair pockets!  They were plain yellow and I added ribbon and embroidered the bee!

I cannot wait to fill it up with my little honeybees this year!
Hope you have a Terrific Tuesday!

Make a Year Monday {School Fever}

I have been at school as much as possibly since the 18th. I really try to restrain myself from going to school until the 2nd week of July because I deserve a break too right, plus we went to the beach and I had shower planning....so it just kind of fell that way.
So now I'm running around like crazy trying to get everything finished in time for parents to come on August 11th! AHH!! PRAY!
So, this year I will be teaching in the hallway with the fabulous Kindergarten teachers and I could not be more excited. Scared and a little nervous...yes, but excited! I wanted to share a little photos of my room construction from day #1 until I finished up today. I know some of you are going to think oh my...she has a lot to do, but trust me I've gone many days without taking photos. Sorry!
Believe it or not--this is after I had worked for 6 hours the first day. Reminder---I moved rooms!

Ok looking back on these photos...I have come a LONG way!!

This is actually NOT trash...though it may look like it, this is all my books and pretty much everything that goes on my walls.
Here is where I am today....
I so wish that I had remembered to take a BEFORE picture....seriously I'm so bad, but ya'll would be so very proud!

I still have a long way to go, but I'm getting there. Many blessings to those of you who are starting back today or who have already started! I'm thinking about you.
I also wanted to add something that I found somewhere (cannot remember where) that I am going to give to all of my K teachers and my administrators as a beginning of the year treat! Enjoy!
